What Is It & Why Is It Essential?
Mixing is the process of balancing, shaping & integrating individual mono & stereo tracks into a cohesive final mix. It is the primary creative & technical stage of post-production, & the foundation on which mastering is built.
A strong mix ensures clarity, impact, & consistency across playback systems, whether the audio is intended for music, film, television, or digital media. Decisions made during mixing directly affect intelligibility, emotional impact & overall quality.
Poor or inconsistent mixing distracts from content & undermines audience engagement, whilst a well-executed mix supports the material invisibly, allowing the listener to focus on the art without technical distraction.
MY EXPERIENCE
Why Should I Mix Your Work?
I hold a Bachelor of Music & Sound Design from the University of Technology Sydney, where mixing formed a core component of my training across music, film & post-production projects, including work in multi-channel & surround formats.
During my final year, I was selected for competitive internships at the UTS Animal Logic Academy & MassiveMusic, gaining hands-on experience within professional post-production environments operating to industry standards. These roles strengthened my technical approach to balance, clarity & translation across different delivery contexts.
In addition to collaborative & post-production work, I mix all of my own music & audio projects, with selected examples available throughout this site.
MY APPROACH
How Will I Mix Your Work?
My approach to mixing is guided by three core principles:
1) Clarity & Balance: I focus on achieving a clean, well-defined mix with controlled depth, tonal balance & effective use of the stereo field, ensuring each element has a clear & intentional place.
2) Vocal Priority (where appropriate): Unless otherwise specified, vocals are treated as the focal point of the mix, with supporting elements shaped to enhance intelligibility & presence without distraction.
3) Creative Intent: Every mix is developed in close alignment with the client’s creative vision, ensuring technical decisions serve the material rather than impose a preset sound.
I approach each project with consistency & attention to detail, aiming to deliver mixes that translate reliably across playback systems & support the material without unnecessary processing or compromise.
